Introduction to NFPA 25 Water-Based Fire Protection Systems

NFPA 25 Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance (IT&M) of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems is one of the misunderstood and misapplied fire protection standards in use today. The webinar examines the scope of NFPA 25, including a detailed look at the purpose of NFPA 25 as a wear and tear document not intended for design evaluation. The discussion will cover activities that are within and those that are not within the scope of NFPA 25 as it relates to fire sprinklers, standpipes and fire pumps. Basic definitions will be reviewed as well as the IT&M responsibilities of building owners, AHJ’s and contractors/inspectors for these systems.

Learning Objectives:
•Learn basic definitions and their application in required IT&M activities.
•Understand the roles and responsibilities of each relevant stakeholder including the building owner, AHJ and contractor/inspector.
•Explain IT&M activities that are within the scope of NFPA 25 and those that are intentionally not.
