Hurricane Storm Recovery for Fire and Life Safety Systems

Strong hurricanes and tropical storms not only can cause physical damage to your building, but may also impair your fire and life safety systems. This webinar will highlight some of the key points of your fire and life safety systems that should be reviewed after a hurricane or tropical storm has passed when assessing the damage and restoring your systems to operating condition. Water damage is something that may not be totally apparent as you return to your building and we will review different evaluations that should be conducted prior to energizing the equipment. Power to fire alarm panels will be discussed including batteries that may be damaged to a point they cannot hold an adequate charge due to being under extreme or long power outages. Potential damage to diesel and electric fire pumps will also be discussed.

Learning Objectives:
•Understand how to determine elevation of the flood levels and equipment that may be damaged.
•Learn procedures that should be conducted on electrical equipment prior to energizing.
•Know the battery testing requirements in NFPA 72.
