This course is based on NFPA 921 ‘Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations’ and covers how fire investigations are conducted and what to do following a fire incident. Many of the steps taken by a fire investigator are time sensitive and involve following critical procedures for handling evidence. Failure to follow these steps could lead to critical evidence being ruled inadmissible if arson is involved. This presentation reviews standard fire investigation actions including an overview of information that can be obtained from the fire alarm system as well as other electronic surveillance that may contain informative images.
