Training Webinar on NFPA 10 Fire Extinguisher Installation and Maintenance

Webinar presentation will educate facility managers, building and fire officials and service providers on the fire extinguisher installation and maintenance required by NFPA 10.

A new webinar has been prepared by Fire Smarts, LLC to educate facility managers, building and fire officials and service providers worldwide on the installation and maintenance requirements for fire extinguishers based on NFPA 10. This includes covering the different types of fires along with the related types of fire extinguishers and the maintenance required. The webinar is part of the online training resources offered by Fire Smarts.

The “NFPA 10 Fire Extinguisher Installation and Maintenance” webinar will be presented by fire protection industry expert, Tom Parrish, SET, CFPS, PSP, on Thursday, June 7th at 2:00pm Eastern. During this 90-minute training, Mr. Parrish will introduce participants to the components and mounting methods of fire extinguishers in addition to the spacing and placement requirements for installation. Maintenance requirements will also be discussed including aspects of a monthly inspection and annual service.

The webinar qualifies for one contact hour of continuing education training as approved by the International Code Council (ICC) and recognized by NICET for professional development. Certificates will be issued to attendees following the webinar. Registered participants unable to attend the live webinar will have access to the webinar recording to view at a later time.

“Portable fire extinguishers are a common site in facilities and require ongoing maintenance to ensure they are ready for use in the event of a fire,” said Tom Parrish, SET, CFPS, PSP. “This webinar presentation is based on the NFPA 10 standard which provides the maintenance requirements for these devices.”

Webinar instructor, Tom Parrish, SET, CFPS, PSP, has more than 25 years’ experience in fire protection and emergency response. He has held positions with municipal fire, law enforcement and emergency medical services and in private industry system design and installation programs. Today he still serves as an on-call firefighter certified in firefighting, emergency medical treatment, and hazardous materials response. He serves on several NFPA technical committees and is a regular presenter at NFPA meetings and seminars. His professional credentials include Level IV NICET Certified Fire Alarm Technician, Level III NICET Inspections and Testing, and Master Electrician. He is board certified as a Physical Security Professional by ASIS and holds a bachelor’s in Industrial Technology from the Kean University.
