Is your team ‘qualified’ for the fire protection work they perform? Most model codes and standards require a person to be ‘qualified’, but you may be wondering what this actually means. This webinar will cover how NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code addresses personnel qualifications when working with fire alarm and emergency communication systems. The webinar is part of the online training resources offered by Fire Smarts.

The “Fire Alarm Personnel Qualifications in NFPA 72” webinar will be presented by fire protection industry expert, Tom Parrish, SET, CFPS, PSP, on Thursday, March 8th at 2:00pm Eastern. During this 90-minute training, Mr. Parrish will cover how ‘qualified’ person is defined in NFPA 72 and where to find these requirements for various job types. This includes the recently added qualification requirements for fire alarm plans examiners and fire inspectors. Through this discussion of qualification requirements this presentation will cover some of the most common methods used to demonstrate that a person is qualified.

The webinar qualifies for one contact hour of continuing education training as approved by the International Code Council (ICC) and recognized by NICET for professional development. Webinar instructor, Tom Parrish, SET, CFPS, PSP, is Vice President of Integrated Systems of Telgian Corporation. With more than 25 years’ experience in fire protection and emergency response. He has held positions with municipal fire, law enforcement and emergency medical services and in private industry system design and installation programs. He serves on several NFPA technical committees including NFPA 72 Signaling Systems for the Protection of Life and Property and Emergency Communications Systems. He is a board member of AFAA and is a senior instructor for NFPA. His professional credentials include Level IV NICET Certified Fire Alarm Technician, Level III NICET Inspections and Testing, Certified Fire Protection Specialist and Master Electrician. He is board certified as a Physical Security Professional by ASIS and holds a bachelor’s in Industrial Technology from the Kean University.
