Introduction to Fire Alarm System Inspection and Testing

This webinar will introduce participants to the inspection and testing requirements for fire alarm systems based on NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code. This standard directs the testing and inspection activities for alarm system equipment including control units, supervising station transmission, initiating devices, notification devices and power supplies. The tables in Chapter 14 of the standard designate what specific visual inspections and actual tests need to be performed and at what frequencies. Participants will review how these tables work, commonly enforced inspection and testing requirements, and where to look if additional inspections and testing information is needed.

Learning Objectives:
•Know the intent for requiring fire alarm inspections and testing.
•Understand how conducting testing is different from performing inspections.
•Learn the qualifications for personnel conducting inspections and testing.
•Determine documentation requirements for inspection and testing activities.
