New Communications Requirements Based on the 2013 Edition of NFPA 72

With the “sun setting” of the standard POTS telephone service changes have been made to the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code. This seminar will review the changes in communications between the premises fire alarm system and the monitoring center based on the 2013 edition of this code. Acceptable technologies including cellular radio, one and two way radio systems, internet communications and when the DACT is still allowed. Also covered will be the requirements for supervision and what is commonly called test signals, as the requirements have changed significantly. If DACT’s are still utilized the new requirements could quadruple the number of signals transmitted to the monitoring center.
