“With new construction hard to come by in most part of the country, many contractors are turning to inspections and testing of fire sprinkler systems for their core business,” said Ryan J. Smith, President of Fire Smarts, LLC. “Understanding the NFPA 25 standard and the significant changes to the 2011 edition is important for building owners, contractors and fire authorities responsible for fire sprinkler systems.”

With the 2011 edition of the NFPA 25 standard, the technical committee provides greater clarification regarding the intent and purpose of the inspections and tests mandated by the standard than ever before.

“It is very important for those performing inspection and maintenance work to be aware of the NFPA 25 changes in the 2011 edition,” said Steven Scandaliato, SET, CFPS. “Furthermore, NICET will be introducing the new NFPA 25 testing series sometime this spring and those who are preparing to become certified will want to have a good understanding of how this standard is compiled.”
